WHY DO I WONDER?I’ve long held a sense of wonder at the nature of space, and been inspired by revolutions in rocketry and satellite use. My interest in developing these tools of exploration began in 7th grade, when I first read Elon Musk’s biography. I was intrigued by the ways in which he revolutionized the creation and use of space technology, and took an astronomy class my first quarter at UW to pursue this curiosity. There, I learned about the stakes and applications of space technology, from the search for extraterrestrial life to the ever-nearing goal of settling other planets.
These interests have guided me to the field of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AA), and within that, the sub-fields of structures and fluids. One area of study where these two come together is the design of propulsion systems, which I am uniquely passionate about. |
